Spring into Summer Make-up Awards
We are very excited to announce that Helen Alcorn is one of just 6 finalists in Northern Ireland's Make-up Excellence Awards for 2010. The award, which has been created by critically acclaimed make-up artist Oonagh Boman, is to recognise the wealth of talented student make-up artists who have attended her Make-Up School of Excellence.
Helen first met Oonagh in1999 when Oonagh taught her at the Bronwyn Conroy School of Beauty. Helen completed a Colour Analysis course at The Oonagh Boman School of Make-up in 2005 and the only course left on Helen's wish list was the Fashion and Photographic Make-up Diploma, which Helen also successfully completed in 2008.
In September 2009 Helen was asked to work on a photo shoot for the portfolio of one of her clients who was entering ‘The Ulster Tatler Hairdresser of the Year Award’. At the same time she did Martina’s own make-up for the personal shots which the Ulster Tatler had also requested. Sure enough, Martina went on to win the award which gave Helen a great sense of pride, and she now receives regular requests from her to do the make-up for the brides at her hair salon.
Helen would be delighted to win the Make-up Excellence Award as it is a prestigious award that would hopefully pave the way for more opportunites within the fashion and beauty industry.
If Helen wins the Make-Up Excellence Award, she will receive a wide range of prizes to include make-up from brand leader MAC, brushes from Oonagh Boman and make-up from her new range, Senna Cosmetics, a portfolio from top fashion photographer Jim Crone, a specially commissioned trophy and a fashion spread in leading bridal magazine, Ulster Bride.
The winner is to be announced at the Magners Light Spring into Summer Event at St George's Market on Tuesday 23rd March.
We would like to wish Helen all the best for the awards night.
